Feuges
Feuges lies at the heart of the Champagne plain, and is therefore heavily involved in farming. However, Feuges is a commune rich in anecdotes and encounters, and offers an astonishing heritage that we will try to help you discover through this treasure hunt.
Welcome to Feuges !
The most beautiful building and a must-see in Feuges is the 12th-century church of Saint-Benoit (keep an eye out for the “one day, one church” summer tour dates). It is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the Aube department, with its monumental Christ on the Cross (1m82 by 1m74), considered as a key work of the 16th century in the Champagne region.
Enjoy your discovery walk, and pay close attention to the detailsโฆ Good luck!
Although there are not many famous people from Feuges, Charles-Michel de l’Epรฉe, better known as the Abbรฉ de l’Epรฉe, was the parish priest of Feuges from 1736 to 1738. He founded the Institute for the Deaf and Dumb in Paris and contributed to the development of sign language. A visit to the porch of the church is highly recommended.

You will see a signpost for the former imperial road number 77.
229 French imperial roads were defined by an imperial decree in 1811.
After the fall of the Empire in 1815, the imperial roads became royal roads, which in turn later became national roads. This new numbering system remained virtually unchanged until the roads were downgraded in the 1970s.
