Once upon a time in Troyes, when valiant knights had to earn their ladies by heroic deeds, a manuscript was written to narrate a legendary epic.

Although unfinished, it has survived over the centuries and has become a great source of inspiration for many adaptations in literature, film, painting, music, comics and games.

Go on a quest for the “Unfinished manuscript” by solving riddles scattered throughout the streets of the historic heart of Troyes!

Merlin the Wizard had secretly recorded all his spells in a grimoire which he had so well hidden that no one knows where it is today, since Viviane, the fairy, imprisoned the Wizard for eternity in an invisible tower.

According to legend, Merlin left clues to help find the place where he hid his precious grimoire…

So, let’s go in search of the Wizard’s Grimoire!

Welcome to Estissac, a dynamic village situated between Troyes and Sens on the edge of the Othe forest, and about 20 km from the centre of Troyes.

This town is located to the west of the Troyes urban area, 4 km from the city centre of Troyes. It currently has a population of 3,690.

Welcome to the town of Lavau, located northwest of Troyes. The village is spread over 5.74 km² with two distinctive parts on either side of the ring road. On one side, you will discover the historic centre of Lavau, and on the other side, the part called “La Valotte”.

In the heart of the Orient Forest Regional Park, enjoy the discovery of Lusigny-sur-Barse and its many hidden treasures! You will see, you will want to stay in this village much longer!

The origin of Mesnil-Saint-Père comes from both “Mansionile”, meaning a small house, and “Saint-Père”, a deformation of “Saint-Pierre”. Put on your trainers to explore the streets and hidden treasures of this village!

Ten kilometres away from Troyes, the hill of Montgueux is famous for its vines that produce the famous “wine of the kings”, and it is a perfect place to grow Chardonnay grape.

Montiéramey was named after the abbey founded by Arremar in the 9^th century. On his death, the abbey took the name of its founder, Montier d’Arremare, which was later changed to Montiéramey. It has preserved a unique landscape of orchard-cultivated hillsides, including a view of the Orient Lake from the “Côte aux Chats”.

Montreuil comes from the Latin word “monaselriolum” meaning small monastery. The addition of “sur Barse” to “Montreuil” happened in 1919.

It was then supposed to differentiate it from the other Montreuil, that has since become Saint-Léger-près-Troyes. Put on your trainers and stroll along the beautiful paths surrounded by orchards, discovering the many historical and heritage sites.

The village of Montsuzain, located about 20 km north of Troyes, is a preserved territory in the middle of the Champagne plain, a true island of greenery where you will feel peaceful and calm.

Discover Moussey, a small town located around 10 km south of Troyes, which has retained its rural character with a high level of agricultural activity. It is worth taking the time to wander its streets and discover some of its rich history and heritage.

Enjoy the exploration of this quiet, bucolic village and unravel some of its mysteries.

Payns is located about 15 km north of Troyes towards Romilly-sur-Seine and Nogent-Sur-Seine. Surrounded by a generous natural environment, fields, forests and the Seine river contribute to the beautiful setting and atmosphere that you will discover in the local legends.

Welcome to Pont-Sainte-Marie, a city located in the north-east of Troyes. This town of 4 km2 is home to various places that you are invited to discover through a walk and a heritage, anecdotal and historical quiz.

The town of Rouilly-Saint-Loup is located 9 km to the east of Troyes. This quiz or treasure hunt is an ideal way to discover this village (based on a treasure hunt created by pupils at Rouilly school in 2013).

The town of St-Léger-Près-Troyes (9.2 km²) has almost 1000 inhabitants. With 679 ha of agricultural lands and 108 ha of forests, this town remains a very rural place.  Many sports, social and cultural associations offer a variety of entertainment and organise occasional events. The natural environment of Saint-Léger is pleasant, especially thanks to the two tributaries of the Seine river that flow through the commune: the Hurande and the Triffoire.

Located about 11 km north of Troyes, the town of Saint-Lyé and its inhabitants called the “Lyotains” have all the ingredients to seduce you and make you spend a pleasant moment in this valley of the Seine river, near the biking trails by the Haute-Seine canal.

Sainte-Savine is a city of 7.5 km², with a population of 10,500 called the “Saviniens”. It is adjacent to the towns of Saint-André, la Chapelle-Saint-Luc, la Rivière-de-corps, les Noës and it is located 2.6 km from the centre of Troyes. To the west of the agglomeration, it is accessible by the ring road and it is 7 km from the exit 20 – Torvilliers of the A5 highway from Paris.

Sommeval is a town located about twenty kilometres from Troyes. It is a preserved territory that is well worth a visit! You will love discovering the town just after crossing the forest which separates it from its neighbour town, Bouilly.  It is truly a revelation, with natural colours changing through the seasons.

Located 8 km east of Troyes, the village of Thennelières is the gateway to the Orient Forest Regional Nature Park and the road “route du balcon du lac”.

Torvilliers is such a great place to live! It is close to the city of Troyes (about 10 km away), which gives it a semi-rural image in the charming environment of the Champagne countryside.
