This relatively imposing building is the town hall.

The town of La Chapelle-Saint-Luc stretches along both sides of the road RD 619. It underwent significant development at the end of the Second World War. Therefore, a new town hall became essential to meet the needs of the new inhabitants.

Designed in 1959 by the Robert brothers, architects from Troyes, this building has a classical, rectilinear and relatively symmetrical style. It was inaugurated on the 22nd of March 1959.

This Cultural Centre was built in 1988 / 1989, and it is named after a late comedian who died in 2004.

Before this place was dedicated to culture, what was there on this site?

Congratulations!
Sorry !

In the past, on the site of the current Cultural Centre was a farm, called the Mizelle farm.

Before, it was located in the commune of Saint Martin. In 1856, Saint Martin was attached to the city of Troyes, which led to the setting up of offices dedicated to the payment of a duty for each passage of cereals and other products.

Fed up, the farmers decided in 1857 to move their farm 2 km away, to the commune of La Chapelle-Saint-Luc. In 1976, the Baudin family, owners of the farm, decided to sell the property and the town of La Chapelle-Saint-Luc bought it. Pierre Mizelle was the last occupant of the property and was forced to leave and relocate, with great sadness and regret.

In 1987, the farm was dismantled and partly reassembled near the Géraudot beach and at the Brienne la Vieille ecomuseum.

This rural church was built twice, in 1513 and in 1579. It is dedicated to the Evangelist Saint Luke, of whom it had a relic until 1814.

This relic disappeared during the Russian occupation. It has a few beautiful stained-glass windows from the 16th century Champagne school as well as a rich interior decoration, with the altarpiece of the Virgin, the 16th century high relief of Saint Hubert and a 13th century Virgin and Child

It has been protected as a historical monument since 1894.

On the site of this building, there used to be a large house. It was located on the old path called “chemin de la Cordelière”. It was a country house that was extended by a brick and stone Renaissance-style building in 1890.

This house was inhabited and was badly damaged by the bombing in 1944. It was left abandoned and destroyed in 1980, then replaced by this 440-unit building.
