Welcome to Payns !

You are in the place of the historical stronghold of the Lord Hugues de Payns, which is at the origin of the knightly epic of the Templars, whose history, 10 centuries later, remains still as fascinating as ever.
Excavations were carried out in September 1998 on the site of the Commandery of Hugues de Payns which revealed various foundations (chapel, farmhouse, etc.) as well as fragments of columns and tiles, and above all a monetary treasure of 708 denarii from the 13th century.
If you wish to discover or rediscover the creation and history of the Knights Templar, go ahead and visit the little Hugues de Payns museum, or Templar museum (“Musée des Templiers”), in the heart of the village, which is the starting point of this quiz (all the information is available on Visit the web site of the museum (FR)
Enjoy the discovery, pay attention to the details, and good luck!

The number of people bearing the scars of the First World War (military and civilian) was over 40 million, including 20 million dead and 21 million wounded.
While Payns had about 598 inhabitants at that time, the very high number of local children who died for the country inscribed on this monument shows the atrocity of this war.
